We may be living through the winter that will seemingly never end, but fortunately there’s a long list of diversions around Des Moines to keep you distracted until things finally thaw.

Drake Women’s Basketball

Ranked 22nd nationally, the Drake Women’s Team gives you two chances to catch them in action in Des Moines this week:
Where: Knapp Center
When: Thursday, March 7th at 6pm vs. Illinois State
Saturday, March 9th at 2pm vs. Bradley
Cost: $5 for Youth
$10 for Adult

When: Friday, March 8th — Championship Games:
Class 1A Championship: 2:10pm

Get Active

There are three different ways to get moving with dance this weekend:

Salsa for Beginners with Kelly

Where: Salsa Des Moines at Mainframe Studios
When: Friday, March 8th at 6pm
Cost: $40/person for 4 weekly sessions, starting March 8th. No partner required.
Side Note: Following these lessons, there is a weekly salsa practice session from 7-9pm. Only $5 to attend this additional session! (Link to practice session)

Where: Viaduct Gallery at the Des Moines Social Club
When: Friday, March 8th from 6:30 – 8:30pm

Adult Ballet

Where: UnityPoint Health Movement Studio at the Des Moines Social Club
When: There are three options:

  • Beginning Adult Ballet – Level 1: Saturday, March 9th, from 10-11am (link)

  • Open Ballet: Saturday, March 9th, from 12:30-2pm (link)
