If you have time to burn, there are many other resources available to learn about what’s happening around Des Moines. Here are some tried and true places to check out:
Jazlyn Fitz is a native Iowan who, except for a 4-year stint in Chicago, has lived in Des Moines since 2004. She grew up in a tiny Iowa town called Alden, where she spent 13 years in one school building — from her first day of kindergarten to her last day of her senior year. Then she spent four years in Cedar Falls being a Panther, never taking any electives until her last semester, and wisely making the decision to fulfill those electives “studying” abroad in Australia. She left UNI with a degree in Public Relations she knew she didn’t want to use in a PR job.
Jazlyn has a work background in project management, human resources consulting and various communications positions. That experience, combined with a general adoration of Des Moines and a podcast listening habit bordering on addiction led her to create DSM 411 to have the content she wish existed.
Jazlyn is married, has three young kids, and lives in the Drake neighborhood.
